I am in MEXICO

Finally after two planes, fuck knows how many hours, five shitty films, five beers, and some single serving friends, I made it to Mexico City.

Alive!

There are tales to come.

Saturday 21 November 2009

So nothing has happened in the last few weeks, except that I am no longer a work-shy scrounger. Well, I may still be work-shy, but I am no longer a scrounger.

Britishers, rejoice, your taxes no longer pay for my boozing and floozing!

Also I found some Thai money which I brought back some memories, so of course I changed it up to Englisher cash, and bought myself something special with the proceeds.

Yes, that is a kick-ass drawing board. You may ask why, it is because I am awesome.

Also I put in a cv at my local bookshop so hopefully I will be working soon.

It is time to turn this mother out

This post is about Achewood.

Where to start with this thing?

I been reading it for a time now. All used to thinking of these cats like they people.

If I read too much at once I get ache-vision. Viewing life through Beef's or Ray's eyes.

It has been an influence on me, leastways.

Onstad has created, and I have consumed, and the man can write worth more'n a damn I tell you. Such turns of phrase as you never did see. Words thrown together in an order.

Try it. When the party kicks in you might wind up liking it.

But mainly this is to tell you that I have two of his books now and they are a piece of class. The hardback versions would fit right in any well turned out bookcase.

I got his cookbook as well but it is not as well made.

Some Books

I read a lot.

Here are all the books I have to read this month. (click for biggens)

"The Secrets Of The Chess Machine"

The Chess Machine was something called "The Mechanical Turk" which was an automatic chess playing machine during the 18th Century. I don't think I am ruining anything when I say there was a dwarf inside it. That's the main reason I got this from the library. Also there is some kind of murder mystery attached to it. The Chess will be interesting anyway.

"Dawn Of The Dumb"

This is by a man named Charlie Brooker who is the tv critic for the Guardian newspaper in Britain. The man is very funny. This is a collection of his columns. There are swears and rage.

"The Master & Margarita"

A Margarita is a tequila based cocktail. It is also a pizza topping. Margarita is a main character in this book by Mikhail Bulgakov. The Devil comes to Moscow during Soviet times. There are hi-jinks and escapades. If you only read one of this list make it this. There is nothing about pizza but I think cocktails are mentioned once or twice. It is unclear whether they are margaritas though.

"Short Stories Of Fyodor Dostoevsky"

I mean Russian Authors are where it is at. They are consistently excellent. I like Dostoevsky, which is handy because I was given this as a birthday present. People should read more great literature such as this. Maybe you should try it?

"Cat's Cradle"

This is by Kurt Vonnegut who wrote Slaughterhouse 5. That book was fucking strange. So perhaps this is too who knows? (aside from the people who have read it). I'm sure it will be okay.

I also got a book called "Cheetara" which is the biography of a MONKEY. A monkey that was in Tarzan or something. To be honest most of the reason I bought it was that it had a monkey on the cover. I forgot to take a photo of it though. I hope it's good.

wine

So I've been drinking some wine recently.

McGuigans is so tasty that I think I would buy it loads of times. I mean seriously, if you like red wine look out for this. It is Australian. Drink it.

Yeah I drank the whole bottle

I had some Gallo too but it wasn't as nice.

Goodbye _why

If you know me then you'll know that I've been going through a hard time recently with the death of my father, so I missed this last month.

Famed ruby programmer _why the lucky stiff and musician has deleted all or most of his stuff.

Now I'm not a programmer by any means, and I've only ever messed around with it a little bit, but I read his poignant guide a few years back and tried it. I should have tried harder, I ought to have worked at it, and learned, and thanked him for writing it, for it was truly a work of art, and an inspiration to many.

_why, I'm sorry you're gone.

the one where i tell you that updates will be few

Oh hai.

Fancy seeing you here.

I'll admit that I'll probably never update this thing, but we'll see.
